And, so, today...

Eight years ago today I was sitting in Emens Auditorium at Ball State University.

My husband was beside me, filling in for the friend who had originally planned to attend.

I was thoroughly enjoying my very first Steven Curtis Chapman concert.

And then.

And then.

Just before the intermission, one last song was played.

A song he wrote about adoption.

A video of his adopted daughter played on the screen.

The words gripped me.

The face captivated me.

The whisper in my ear changed me forever.

And, to be honest, freaked me out a little bit.

I'm not speaking figuratively here. I literally heard a whisper.

"This is for you."

I looked around to see if anyone else had heard it.

Seemingly, it was for my ears only that night.

That whisper set in motion the events that brought this sweet little face into our lives.

Pretty much every day, I think about what I would have missed...what we all would have missed...if I'd just chalked my experience up to imagination. Or regarded all the challenges that come with walking this path as too much...too overwhelming...too costly...impossible.

Thankfully, we know a love like no other. His love for us.

And, so, today, it is ever so fitting to be officially beginning another journey to another baby girl on the other side of the world. In case you're wondering, it's no less daunting the second time around. It comes with new challenges. But that's where faith and trust come in.

And a couple thousand tutus.

It's crazy. I know. There's a story that goes along with this plan, but the bottom line is this. I cannot look into the face of this daughter of mine and walk away from what I know is, once again, for me. For us. So if God asks me to sell tutus to bring home another little one, then that's exactly what I'm going to do.

"Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man, this is impossible,

but with God all things are possible."

Matthew 19:26

CONGRATS!! This is so exciting! I loved hearing your "concert story". Wanna know when we went to the concert? About 5 days before receiving our first referral. I was a bawling idiot when all those pictures were being shown. Oh my! I can't wait to follow your 2nd trip to China. :)
